MAP trainings and workshops are made available to providers across Minnesota through support from the Division of Human Services, Behavioral Health Division. These offerings are designed to strengthen the use of MAP in practice and help professionals deepen their skills in applying MAP tools and principles with youth and families.

Upcoming Professional Development Opportunities
For communities coping with acute distress during and after a significant crisis, what does client-centered, evidence-informed mental health care look like? This session introduces two practical frameworks providers can use to organize, prioritize, and evaluate clinical decisions when there are many unknowns and no clear precedents to follow.
Participants will also reflect on how to reconceptualize progress after trauma in ways that support a practical, culturally relevant therapeutic environment for children and families.

Target Audience: Ideal for MN service providers who work with youth and families experiencing chronic or acute traumatic stressors.
This blended training prepares MN DHS Residential Services providers, PRTF, and School-Based providers to deliver evidence-informed care using the Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP) system. Participants will learn how to select and apply proven strategies for a wide range of youth mental health needs, create individualized treatment plans, and monitor progress to make data-informed adjustments over time.
Through a combination of online learning, in-person training, guided planning, and consultation, providers will build practical skills for applying MAP tools in residential settings. This series also places participants on the pathway to earning the MAP Therapist credential, supporting professional development and high-quality service delivery.
The path to MAP Therapist credentialing includes completing the 5-day MAP Direct Services Workshop, participating in 12 one-hour consultation sessions over at least six months, and successfully completing a Therapist Portfolio Review.

Additional details: Registration includes access to all online and in-person training components. Breakfast, lunch, beverages, and light snacks will be provided on in-person training days. Upon successful completion of the MAP Direct Service Training, a $1,000 stipend will be issued to the trainee’s agency for the first 24 people to register.
The MAP Supervision and Consultation Training Series prepares MAP Therapists to provide high-quality supervision and consultation to other professionals using the MAP system. Participants will build proficiency in developing direct service clinicians through the MAP Direct Services curriculum, strengthening the process of direct service delivery, and using MAP tools to support effective supervision and consultation. The training emphasizes a practical, evidence-informed supervision cycle—helping supervisors identify practitioner strengths and needs, support skill development, and promote strong clinical outcomes across teams. The workshop also introduces key competencies for both MAP Direct Services and MAP Supervision and Consultation and supports implementation in real-world agency settings.
The path to MAP Supervisor credentialing includes completing the 2-day MAP Supervision and Consultation Workshop, participating in six one-hour consultation sessions over at least six months, providing MAP training and/or supervision to six providers within your agency, and successfully completing the Agency Supervisor Promotion Review.
